THE RADICAL HEARTS COLLECTIVE
ACTIVISM. ART. AFFECTION.
Supporting the community in the streets and on the dance floor.
THE VISION
The Radical Hearts collective was created by LGL Tenacity and Paco May to unite the nightlife and activist worlds of the LGBTQ+ community.
Led and inspired by the Black trans women who created queer culture and resistance, The Radical Hearts seek to give the girls their flowers in real time while always remembering those who planted the seeds.
VOLUME 1
The Radical Hearts Collective threw its first event on Feb 10, 2023 at the Chashama Gallery at 1 Brooklyn Bridge Park.
The gallery was hosting Paco May’s solo exhibit, NIGHT LIGHTS, which was a tribute to the queer nightlife community in New York.
The event featured performances by Boy Radio, Dev Doee, Robyn Edges, The Dragon Sisters, Ella Fartzgerald, Paris L’Hommie, and Serena Tea. It was hosted by Thee Suburbia and Frankie Paradise was on site to DJ.
The performances all led up to a moment of recognition for 5 activists, all trans women of color, who are continuing to inspire the community in the moments when the lights are not shining on us. Our honorees for Volume 1 of the Radical Hearts Dance were Angelica Christina Xtravaganza, Terri Squires, Kiara St. James, Elisa Crespo, and Qween Jean.
